Have just received a fantastic & intense day’s Excel Training from Colin. He was recommended to us as someone who would offer a tailored solution focussed specifically to our needs and he did just that!
At our first meeting to discuss what we needed, Colin took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve in terms of business reporting and on the spot showed us a far more effective way of producing the information that we required and in a fraction of the time… and that was even before we’d booked the training!
So, on the day, the training was, as promised, tailored directly to our needs, making use of our company data to not only illustrate the techniques that we were covering, but at the end of the day, leaving us with a much improved spreadsheet that we can actually use within the business. Whilst Colin had some “ready-made” examples to use if we needed them, by using data that we were already familiar with made the training far more relevant. In addition, knowing how long it had taken to get it into a useful format in the past, we were amazed at how quickly (once you know what you’re doing!) useful information can be extracted from a mass of data.
But it wasn’t just the Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS and IFERROR Statements that Colin focused on… yes, they’re fantastic & make a huge difference, but there were all of the small, quick shortcuts that he passed on all of which add up; as was the additional insight into numbers that his “past life” as an accountant brings.. they’re not just pretty techniques that he shows you, there’s a real business benefit behind them. What’s more, all of this is delivered with enthusiasm – you can tell that Colin really enjoys passing on his knowledge
So, before the training, we were, like many businesses, “getting by” in Excel and, to be honest, been in that state for a while and it was with reluctance that we decided to, finally, undertake some formal training wondering how we’d afford the time; Now, we wish that we’d known Colin years ago – we’d have saved hours and hours of time and effort (and, of course, money) in producing the information that we need.
