A once-scammed venture capitalist is creating a cryptocurrency vault to combat the ever-present level of fraud in the cryptocurrency space.

Francois Le Nguyen, an angel investor and former general manager at Entrepreneur First, lost $10,000 of Ethereum and NFTs in a Discord phishing attack. Motivated by this loss, he partnered with his soon-to-be co-founder Jake Harwood to create startup Staging Labs, which has released its newest protection platform, Saferoot.

This week, Staging Labs announced that it has raised $1.1 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed round, a clear demonstration of the acknowledged need for safeguards in the cryptocurrency space.
